Foundation “Fonds Cilvēkiem”
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data we receive through the “What Breaking Opens” book website, why we process it, and what rights you have.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is the foundation “Fonds Cilvēkiem”, registration number 40008308452, legal address Hamburgas iela 8, Rīga, LV-1014, Latvia. For any questions about your data, write to fondscilvekiem@gmail.com.
What data we receive and why
Pre-orders and team orders
In the order forms we ask for your name, email address, number of copies and a note; for team orders also your organisation name, phone number and preferred delivery time. We use them only to fulfil the order and communicate with you about it. This processing is necessary to perform our contract with you.
Card payments
Card payments are processed by our payment provider Stripe – we never see or store your card details. We keep only the payment status and a Stripe reference linked to your order, so we can confirm that a copy has been paid for. Your payment receipt reaches you from Stripe.
News about the book
If you tick the box “I’d like to receive occasional news”, we keep your email address and send only occasional news about the making of the book. You can stop this at any time by writing to fondscilvekiem@gmail.com. If you don’t tick the box, we send nothing.
Enquiries about other language editions
If you submit an enquiry about publishing the book in another language, we keep your name, email, the role you named, the language and your message, so we can reply and continue the conversation if you wish.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell or rent your data. This website has no advertising, analytics or tracking tools – data reaches us only through the forms and the payment confirmation.
Who else can access the data
The website runs on Lovable Cloud (hosting and database), and payments are processed by Stripe. These providers process data only on our behalf and under contract with us.
How long we keep data
- Order records – 5 years from the payment or request date, as required by Latvian bookkeeping rules.
- Newsletter addresses – until you unsubscribe.
- Language-edition enquiries – up to 1 year after our last correspondence.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict its processing, object to it, and receive the data you gave us in a portable format. Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time – this does not affect processing already carried out.
To exercise these rights, use fondscilvekiem@gmail.com. If you believe your rights have been violated, you can lodge a complaint with the Latvian State Data Protection Inspectorate (www.dvi.gov.lv).
